Process takeover: ordering parts for vehicle test platforms
One part, four SOPs, one human approval. The recurring order process for automotive test parts, run end to end. A worked example with illustrative figures.
Worked example. Figures and scope are illustrative, not a delivered reference.
The work package
Every build and test cycle, a part has to be ordered for a vehicle test platform. Each time, it passes through the same four standard operating procedures (SOPs). This concerns development and test-fleet logistics at OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers.
Today that work is done by hand. Platforms are maintained in spreadsheets, demands are chased across teams, and orders are re-typed into SAP.
Challenge
Three of the four SOPs are routine. They need a person only because nothing else does them. The one step that needs a person, the approval, sits in the middle of that routine and gets the least attention.
The process after Lumibit
SOP 1: Configure test platforms
Automated. Platforms are configured automatically and stay in sync with the car and your other tools.
SOP 2: Calculate demands
Automated. Which part, which quantity, needed by when. Computed per platform, fully traceable.
SOP 3: Responsible people approve
Human decision. One reviewable package: what changed, and why. Approve or correct. The only human step.
SOP 4: Fix and order in SAP
Automated. Approved demands are posted to SAP as orders. No re-typing, complete audit trail. Delivery dates flow back automatically.
Result
Three of four SOPs run without a person. The human effort left in the process is one approval.
Every SOP writes to the one artifact. Fulfilment status and audit trail live on the part, and completed jobs are traced automatically. That is the documentation AI works agreements and works-council reviews ask for.
Human-in-the-loop, by design
No AI output reaches your ERP without a person’s sign-off. Approve or correct, with real authority. The architecture itself makes sure of it.
